Beer Festivals, Plaid, and Brunch
Happy Monday everyone!! I hope you're all well-rested and had a great weekend! I love reading about what other people did on the weekend, so I wanted to pop on here and show you my weekend too!
Friday was very uneventful. I was in a learning session at work for three days, which was basically like being back in school. So once Friday rolled around all I wanted to do was have a glass of wine, scroll through Instagram, and fall asleep. And that's exactly what I did.
Plus, we had plans for a beer festival on Saturday and knew we wanted to be well-rested for a day of fun, so a good nights sleep was just what I needed!
Saturday morning my grandparents stopped by to give me a birthday card (so sweet!!) and then it was time to shower and get ready for the Conshohocken Beer Festival. We had plans to meet Sam and her husband (crazy that my best friend is married!!) Michael at their friends' house, who live right across the street from where the festival is held.
Becca and Billy have a tradition of having people over for brunch and mimosas (because who doesn't need more alcohol before a drinking festival?) and pretzel necklace making.
I can't stress the importance of pretzel necklaces haha. Last year we couldn't find food anywhere at the festival, so these were crucial to our survival. When you're drinking beer for four hours, you need something to munch on. This year there were actually food stands, but the pretzels were delicious and we didn't have to pay $10 for them (they were almost like palate cleansers between beers).
Don't let the smiles fool you, it was absolutely freezing the first hour we were there! My lips are so chapped today from the wind. Since we didn't have gloves, we folded in the koozies that breweries were giving out and put our mini cups in there. It worked perfectly!!
Here was our first attempt at a roommate picture, with the boys standing 10 feet apart. But proudly sporting our pretzels and matching plaid!
Sunday morning we actually slept in!! Sleeping in with Maggie is actually only around 7, but I'll take it!
We started out the day a little hungover (shocking), but meeting Patrick's mom for brunch at Winnie's was just what we needed.
I was in the mood for something a little lighter and ordered the avocado toast with roasted cherry tomatoes, bacon crumbles, hard boiled egg, and sriracha. It was so perfect for curing my hangover! Although it was a bit difficult to eat since they put the sriracha on the bottom of the toast. The first time I picked it up I got sriracha all over my hand lol but still delicious!! And of course I got a side of cheesy grits (so delish!).
This week should be a little less busy. Tonight I'm making apple protein muffins (gluten and dairy free!) and Thursday Patrick and I have a hot yoga class planned!
Hope you all have a great week!!
xoxo
